Problem Statement
The Historic Indian Village Association needed a refreshed online presence that honored the neighborhood’s rich history while providing modern tools for both residents and visitors, including a secure, members-only community space.
The Historic Indian Village Association is the official organization representing the historic neighborhood located in Detroit, Michigan. We wanted to celebrate the historic feel, while giving it an up-to-date touch.
We redesigned the Association’s decade-old website on the WordPress platform, combining classic typography and resident-submitted photography to create a sense of ownership and pride. The new site includes an easy-to-use content management system for board members and content managers, plus a paid members-only area built with BuddyPress and MemberPress for sharing resources, events, and neighborhood updates. This blend of timeless design and modern functionality ensures the site reflects the community’s heritage while meeting today’s digital needs.
